‘Shark Tank’ revisited: PittMoss, NeatCheeks, Melni Connectors, Beneath the Ink, Sun-Staches
For this week’s “Shark Tank” revisited, we are actually focusing on a series of products that were first featured on the show only a few months ago in April. Therefore, not all of these have had a lot of time to take gigantic leaps forward since the show aired, since it took some time for them to more or less assess where they are.
Even with that being said, though, we do see some growth for a few of them, and depending on who you are, there is value in all of them … granted, some more than others.
For those wondering, the update in this episode will be Sun-Stashes, the playful novelty company who seems to be still pulling in licenses. We’re pretty impressed that they have hopped aboard the Minions bandwagon, since that movie seems to be a merchandising empire.
NeatCheeks – This is one of those products that in the end is never going to be so much a necessity, since you can clean a child’s face without them. Yet, at the same time this is something very help to parents who want to make the process easier. We really like the fact that this business continues to hustle even since the show, and of the ones listed here they seem to be trying to take advantage most of the show airing a repeat. When you have a business like this that is for the most part commodity-based, you have to get out in front with the promotion. That’s what they are doing.
Melni Connectors – It feels like there is a more expansive website now than when the show first aired, and they list the variety of products that are currently in development. The market here seems to be mostly commercial, and we’re still going to be honest here that we know next to nothing about the electrical market and cannot say if this works or not. Of course, the hilarious thing is that this is the sort of simple invention that could make more over time than the other products featured here.
Beneath the Ink – We think of this almost as buying a special edition of a movie on DVD with bonus features versus a standard edition that is just a movie. The standard is cheaper, but some out there want further information. This is a cool technology that allows for greater insight into books, and we still feel like it could be useful for some authors. However, we could see some readers finding it disruptive to the flow of the story, and there is still the massive problem of having the authors go through the time to create a special edition of something for a technology that remains largely unproven, even after the show.
PittMoss – Their website does a really good job of giving you information on what the product is, its environmental advantages over peat moss, and how to contact them for further information. We feel like if everything is as great as advertised, then this is a worthwhile buy. Their challenge is the same as it has always been: Trying to convince people who have used peat moss for so long that it is worth the change, and they will get results that are just as good if not better.
