‘Big Brother 17’ live feed spoilers: While it’s quiet, let’s beg for no more Battle of the Block

VanessaMaybe things change tonight on “Big Brother After Dark,” but for the time being, we have a message for all Jason fans: It is not looking good. He is already packing up his stuff, and seems to know that there is no much he can do to save himself. We can understand some online saying that he is not campaigning hard enough, but what could he really do? The problem is that Vanessa, as much as she does over-think things at times, really did pick the right person to put in a backdoor situation. There are few logical reasons for any swing vote like Johnny Mac (close to Becky) or Steve (thinks he is close to Vanessa) to keep him. Clay and Shelli know that Jason would come after him, and they would be joining the bottom of a different alliance.

So with that, allow us to spend a minute or two ranting about another topic here: Can we just kick the Battle of the Block to the curb already?

We were willing to defend this “fan favorite” twist longer than most, simply because there are interesting permutations here in theory. For example, two Heads of Household from opposite sides of the house really using nominees to battle it out. It just hasn’t happened. We had a great chance to see something with Vanessa and Jackie this week, and even then they teamed up at least temporarily and you had someone throwing the competition.

With the way that things are currently constructed, all it could take is a Secret Sense person as Head of Household next week deciding to have someone like Austin throw the Battle of the Block, and they could get what they want. Don’t give that alliance two chances to get into power! The only situation in which an outsider could make a big move is if they manage to have their team lose the BoB, or if there are two Heads of Household who are not in the alliance.

Ultimately, this twist is great at getting more floaters on the block. However, its huge disadvantage is that it plays heavily into getting a big alliance and keeping it.

Here is our plea to producers going into tomorrow night’s live eviction: You are bringing the twins into the game. Therefore, why not just use this opportunity to get rid of this twist, as well, and go back to more traditional “Big Brother”?

We will get off our soapbox now, and hopefully have some more news to share later. We don’t count Meg and James being ruthless next week as news yet, since they need to actually win before they do anything else. James has not done that since week 1.
