‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7 spoilers: Would Kat Graham return for season 8?
At this point in “The Vampire Diaries,” there is really nothing binding the cast to the show anymore at least as far as the contracts are concerned. They have a little more flexibility to do whatever they choose, and that could include opting to depart the series in order to take on some other endeavors or opportunities.
Are we going to see that happen following the show’s seventh season? Really, it is far too early to tell, though we do know a little bit more now about how one person in Kat Graham is approaching the situation. Speaking in a new interview with HungerTV, the actress did reveal what some of the factors she will be considering whether or not Bonnie will return for a potential eighth season; for now, most of it will be heavily character-based:
“I think I was really excited about the idea of doing a season seven, based on the fact that I feel like my character, who was basically in the other dimension for about two years, finally got out, and I knew that the fans felt that the character’s story wasn’t completed. There are storylines with other characters, whether it’s Damon, or other people that the character has scenes with, that they just felt that the character’s relationships had not come full circle or had not fully developed, and wanted to explore that also, I felt the same way. I didn’t feel like the character’s story was done, I felt that there was more that they could do, but I won’t say I would do a Season eight, it really depends on whether I’m fulfilled, and whether we’re like ‘Okay, this story’s been told, and we’re good to go.’”
For the time being, what we really should emphasize here more so than anything else is that there are no plans at present to have season 7 be the last for the show, but we do feel like that could change depending on the ratings. There is no guarantee that the series is going to work without Nina Dobrev as a part of the cast, and it is possible that some viewers won’t even give it a chance without her.
For now, let’s just take a wait-and-see approach. We do know that we would start to feel very uneasy about the show continuing if you lost the majority of what made it different and special, and that includes a big chunk of the original cast.
