‘Gotham’ season 2 spoilers: Erin Richards teases story ahead for Barbara Keen

Barbara -Gotham” fans, we get it: Early on in the first season, the idea of reading a story about Barbara Keen probably was not the most interesting thing in the world to you. She was a character who struggled to find her footing in the early going, and then we started to really get to know her … and also just how evil she is. This is not a character you want to spend any length of time with. She killed her family, and is certainly dangerous to anyone else she comes into contact with. That is why you should probably be very happy right now that this is a character making a quick one-way trip over to Arkham Asylum for the start of season 2.

While Barbara will be there, Erin Richards is still very much a part of the show … meaning that there could be more dark shenanigans in store for this character. The tease below via Entertainment Weekly gives you at least a sense that she will spend some time with some other potentially evil characters on “Gotham” soon enough:

“That moment where she kills her parents is the moment she sets herself completely free from every tie she ever had — her ties to Jim, to society, or maybe even sanity, you could argue … [Early on in season 2 she will meet] this band of emerging villains who shape who she’s going to be in this series.”

From this point on it is mostly Barbara’s mystery that makes her such an interesting part of the series. Here is somebody who is not necessarily as bound to the comic-book mythology as many other people are on the show. Therefore, producers may feel at least a little bit more freedom to do what they wish with her, and turn her into a character who is fully unique. We are excited now for her season 2 story; time will tell what it brings.
