‘Supernatural’ season 11 spoilers: More news via Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard, Andrew Dabb
Thanks in part to Comic-Con interviews still being released on “Supernatural” season 11, we’re still getting a chance to find out more and more about what is coming in the new season … including today the status on Crowley.
If you listen to the majority of Mark Sheppard interviews that are out there about the character right now, he will say the same thing again and again: Crowley’s dead. However, we have come to learn over time that dead on this show rarely ever means that, and they can still come back in some other surprising way moving forward. This is of course assuming that Crowley is actually dead in the first place. With the way that season 10 ended with the Darkness arriving, this is one of those “up is down,” “right is left” sort of situations where almost everything is currently up in the air.
A major sign is now pointing to Crowley eventually returning to the show, and it comes courtesy of what writer / producer Andrew Dabb told TV Guide:
“The second episode of the season… introduces Crowley in a way [pauses and clears throat] — if Crowley were still alive, we’d introduce Crowley in a way we’ve never seen him before. Uh, fail! Now I’m in trouble.”
Sheppard played coy on the subject of Crowley’s future in an interview with TVLine also featuring Misha Collins, but the two did share some interesting production details on season 11. They confirmed that the reason for filming out of order is because doing Jensen Ackles’ episode first allows him to prepare better. The reason why they do not just have him direct the actual premiere episode (which is actually the second one to film) is because it requires him to have more of an onscreen presence. It’s easier for him to take a backseat role acting-wise in the third episode.
As for whether or not the cast knows what is going on while they film episode 3 ahead of the others, Misha commented that they at least get the outline of the first two scripts, if not the full thing to read.
