‘Criminal Minds’ season 11 spoilers: Marisol Nichols of ‘NCIS’ checks in

Is Marisol Nichols of “NCIS” coming back over for the crime procedural’s thirteenth season? There is no firm word on that yet, though last we saw her, she and Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) were still together.

What we can tell you now is that Nichols does have another new role over on “Criminal Minds.” The actress herself teased the part in a post on Twitter … or at least we should say that she teased that she is going to have a part. She did not do anything in terms of saying who it will be. What we do know is that “Criminal Minds” is in need of some strong female characters. Jennifer Love Hewitt (Kate Callahan) exited the show at the end of season 10, and AJ Cook (JJ) is going to be absent for at least part of the season due to maternity leave. We know already that Aisha Tyler of “The Talk” will be one of the other women brought in to help create some new dynamics on the show.

To this point, little is known about season 11, save for that we imagine at some point there will be some co-mingling between this show and its spin-off “Beyond Borders,” slated to air at some point early next year.

In case you are wondering, we don’t get any sense that “NCIS” and “Criminal Minds” are canon with each other, so don’t think that Nichols’ character here exists in the same world as Tony and Zoe. “Criminal Minds,” while it airs on CBS, is not from the same studio. (The only reason we bring this up is that CBS has made it clear that “NCIS” is canon with many other shows, including “Hawaii Five-0” and recently “Scorpion.”)
