2015 Emmys: ‘Outlander,’ Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ among snubs

Emmys -Let’s face it: There are always going to be some things at the Emmys that leave you disappointed. We’re in a golden age of television! There is almost no way for the show to get it completely right; some may be happier than others today, but nobody is probably going to be completely satisfied with anything.

Today, what we hope to do is at least point out the shows and performers who were significantly snubbed worse than others. We’re sure that we are going to be missing a few different people on this list, so we’ll probably add a few names over time when we realize that they slipped through the cracks.

“Outlander,” Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, and Tobias Menzies – The show and the performers were brilliant, and these people and the show itself won our personal Emmys here at CarterMatt. Unfortunately, we knew they were longshots. Sometimes it takes Emmys a while to recognize new shows; that’s why many of those snubbed are brand-new.

“Galavant” – Yes, our winner for Comedy Series also got snubbed. Sad there.

“Halt and Catch Fire” – How does the series and Lee Pace get completely forgotten in the mix here?

“The Big Bang Theory” – The comedy missed the mark this year both as a series and in the Lead Actor category, where it has previously dominated. Mayim Bialik did score a nod, though.

“Man Seeking Woman” – It’s a really cool, original comedy. However, we virtually knew that it wouldn’t get a nomination.

Any new reality competition – Seriously, we think that the Emmys just take a really long nap every year when configuring that category.

Kerry Washington, “Scandal” – It felt like there was an episode or two from her this year just made for a nod.

Julianna Margulies, “The Good Wife” – She tends to be an almost-perennial nominee.

“Jane the Virgin” – How is Gina Rodriguez left out completely here? Do the Emmys hate The CW or something?

“Justified” and “The Americans” – Both shows are great, yet neither gets any love.

“Sons of Anarchy” – Same here. Other than “Louie,” it’s kind of a bummer year for FX in nominations.
