‘Arrow’ season 4 spoilers: How Damien Darhk is different from Slade Wilson, Malcolm Merlyn

Arrow -We have seen multiple big bad characters on “Arrow” over the years, but with the upcoming arrival of Damien Darhk for the upcoming fourth season, all indications already are that we are getting someone completely and totally different.

Speaking to TVLine at Comic-Con, new co-showrunner Wendy Mericle made it clear that what is going to make Darhk someone who is mostly going to really operates from a place of pure evil. He hasn’t been corrupted, and does not have some huge preexisting relationship with Oliver Queen that turned on a dime, at least as far as we know. He is just a guy who wants to own his stake of the world and force his agenda. He is going to be there from the very beginning of the season, which is really different than most of the traditional big bads that the show has. (Maybe he’s not the big bad for the whole season, but he certainly will be at least in the early going.)

John Barrowman also reveals in this interview that he still doesn’t know entirely Malcolm Merlyn’s place in everything, but the premiere is a big episode that could make people emotional. There’s some good stuff in there for Oliver and Felicity following whatever road trip they have been on, and hopefully we’ll also understand more of what Laurel Lance has been up to protecting Starling City as the Black Canary. She’ll also have Diggle by her side, presumably.

The new season of “Arrow” should premiere on The CW Wednesday, October 7. Stay tuned for more!
