‘Arrow’ season 4 spoilers: Meet Damien Darhk — why we’re excited already!

Arrow -Arrow” could have went a lot of different directions when it comes to their casting for Damien Darhk, but it is really pretty darn hard to be bummed out by what they decided in the end here.

According to TVLine, Neal McDonough (mostly recently of “Justified” and “Suits” fame) is going to be playing Damien, who is thought to be the Big Bad for the upcoming fourth season. He is the supposed head of HIVE, and has a significant backstory when it comes to Ra’s al Ghul. The two were longtime rivals, and part of the enjoyment of this story will be seeing how much of that history ends up informing this particular character.

McDonough is an excellent actor, and getting someone of his gravitas for this show is excellent for “Arrow” and really for The CW as a whole. It proves that serious performers are starting to take the network hopefully a little more seriously, and that could lead to some more great gigs coming at some point in the future.

This is going to be an extremely busy day in regards to more news on “Arrow” coming out, so we suspect that more will be revealed a little later. Know that since this is a series-regular role, odds are that you will be seeing him very early on in the season, and that will most likely play through until the end. We envision even larger of a role for him than what Matt Nable had for his part as Ra’s al Ghul. Also, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Nable return at some point for a flashback scene or two.
