‘Teen Wolf’ season 5: Tyler Posey calls Tyler Hoechlin at San Diego Comic-Con panel

“Teen Wolf” season 5 had its panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday night, and of course there was some predictable scoop. We have heard time and time again about the fractures that are going to form between Scott and Stiles. Meanwhile, it’s always safe to assume that there will be a wide array of action and possibly even death on this show. That’s been a part of the fabric since the very beginning.

However, there was one moment during the panel tonight that we found particularly hilarious. We are not entirely sure if this is something that was planned in advance or spontaneous, but it was pretty funny either way. Tyler Posey at one point decided that he was going to call up his former cast member Tyler Hoechlin, who was prompted to say in front of the massive crowd that he “misses Derek very much.”

Do we think that this changes anything at all for Derek’s future? Hardly. Maybe he will make another appearance or two someday, but we don’t imagine him coming back in any huge form in the near future. While this may be a popular character, Tyler wanted to move on to do some other things. We get it. He’s a 27-year old guy who was appearing in a show about teenage characters, and this is a particularly demanding job.

Regardless of whether or not Derek shows up, just remember that over the course of the rest of the season you’ve got everything from the Dread Doctors to some other surprises to look forward to. Also, it was announced earlier that the show is returning for a sixth season!
