‘The X-Files’ spoilers: See first footage in new promo!

Did you know that if you watched one episode of “The X-Files” a day between now and when the series returns on January 24, you would be able to get through all of them? This is something that Fox clearly wants you to know in the latest promo below.

Of course, at first glance this promo feels just like an advertisement to go watch the DVDs or stream the series somewhere, but then stay tuned. The closing seconds give you the first real footage of the upcoming revival, billed at present as an “event series.” We love to talk about language in TV promos, so note that the word “limited” is not used in here at all. To us, that means that there may potentially be more that could come after what is technically season 10 of the show. It’s only six episodes, but a little of Mulder and Scully is better than none, right?

We feel like in regards for a potential eleventh season, what Fox will smartly do is take a look at what the ratings and reaction are for the first six, and then gauge what Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are up to schedule-wise. The latter still hate “Aquarius” while the former has “The Fall” and maybe “Hannibal,” depending on what happens to her character and also whether or not the show finds a home after NBC canceled it.

For now, we’re not going to spend too much time trying to figure all of that out. Let’s just enjoy that this series is finally coming back.
