‘The Good Wife’ season 7 spoilers: Makenzie Vega out as series regular
The cast of “The Good Wife” continues to change moving into its upcoming seventh season.
Mere hours after we first heard reports about the show adding someone new to the mix in Jeffrey Dean Morgan, we are now hearing via TVLine that Makenzie Vega, who plays the daughter of Julianna Margulies’ Alicia on the series, will no longer be a series regular. This is the third regular that the CBS show is losing this season following Archie Panjabi and Matthew Goode’s departures; the difference here is that Vega may still return in some sort of recurring capacity, while the other two are sure to be more or less gone.
We cannot really say that we are too surprised with this reveal, mostly due to the fact that it is very difficult to really fit in much of Alicia’s home life on the show with everything going on professionally. We also feel like the writers probably do not want to focus on that side of the character too much unless it is compelling. So often we feel like with parents on TV there is this pressure to show off the children, even if there is not anything too interesting to say there; maybe this is a move against that.
No matter how you slice it, “The Good Wife” is definitely making some bold moves and shaking things up for what could be the final season of the show. (That has not been confirmed yet one way or another.) The new season should premiere in October, and we will have some other news on what lies ahead as it comes out.
