‘Arrow’ season 4: Would Stephen Amell ever direct an episode?

Earlier this week, it was first confirmed that “Arrow” stunt coordinator James Bamford would be directing an episode for the first tie, and it’s pretty easy to be thrilled about that. We are always glad to see people get this sort of opportunity, especially when we are talking about people who seem to be extremely passionate about the show, and are interested in trying something new.

What makes much of this possible is that Warner Bros. TV as a studio tends to be really great when it comes to bringing new directors into the fold. We’ve seen Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins direct “Supernatural,” and both Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley have taken on the role over on “The Vampire Diaries.” So could Stephen Amell have an opportunity to do the same thing? Speaking to The TV Junkies, he makes it clear that he has received an offer:

“I am actually interested in directing and I’ve been asked a couple of times if I’d be interested in directing an episode of Arrow by Greg Berlanti … I would like to do it eventually, but to direct an episode of Arrow I think would be a nod towards my own vanity a little bit. It’s not just the fact that I’m in most episodes, but it’s the fact that there’s a prep period before where I’d be shooting and there’s cutting the episode on the B-side where I’d also be shooting. I just don’t think it’s the most practical instance.”

Ultimately, Amell says that he would direct an episode if it was one that would not require a huge commitment from him as an actor, and he would have a larger amount of time to therefore handle more of the responsibilities.

Maybe we’ll have more news on that in the future, but for now, just rejoice that filming on “Arrow” starts later this month!
