Donald Trump amps up war with Univision, won’t apologize despite Miss USA discussions

Donald Trump -Did you really expect Donald Trump to go off quietly into the night after Univision decided that they did not want to run the 2015 Miss USA Pageant anymore? This is Trump we’re talking about here! Of course, the man is going to continue to follow his own lead, and that in turn could cause even more controversy for him.

As first reported by TMZ, Trump plans to sue Univision for breach of contract over their decision to scrap airing the pageant, which they opted to do as a stance against some of Trump’s recent comments about Mexican immigrants. He also seems intent on trying to keep any Univision employees away from his Trump National Doral golf course as a form of protest against some of his actions, as well. Based on what the “Celebrity Apprentice” host / Presidential candidate told Us Weekly, he also has no interest in apologizing anytime soon:

“There is nothing to apologize for … Everything that I said is correct. People are flowing through the borders and we have no idea who they are, where they’re coming from. They’re not only coming from Mexico, they’re coming from all over South America and the world.”

Since we are a TV news and information site, we’re really not going to wade into the political side of this, but one thing that does seem obvious from an industry perspective is that the more Trump speaks up using this rhetoric, the likelier it is that he could face some other problems when it comes to the Miss USA pageant or otherwise. We know that some involved in the pageant were still promoting it as early as yesterday, and so long as NBC still broadcasts it (they released a statement decrying Trump yesterday, but made no mention of plans to scrap it) and advertisers stick around, we have a feeling that it will happen with only a few bumps in the road.

We’ll have some more updates on all of this as they start to come out, but for now head over here to gather up some further news on all we cover, courtesy of our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: NBC.)
