‘Game of Thrones’ season 5: The extent of George R.R. Martin’s work
Just how busy is George R.R. Martin? In some ways, the answer to that is “impossibly busy.” The author is first and foremost writing A Storm of Swords, but in what should be no surprise to anyone, he also has quite a few different other projects going on. Some will probably be upset about that as much as anything else, but this is a guy who tends to function best when he is busy.
To take a full look at everything that he is doing, including some projects for HBO and its sister station Cinemax, take a look at the newest entry in his Not a Blog below:
“Life is impossibly busy right now. I am wrestling with the Son of Kong (that is, working on THE WINDS OF WINTER), trying to wrap up a final round of edits and revisions on the twenty-third Wild Cards book (HIGH STAKES), developing three new series concepts for HBO and Cinemax, hiring writers and directors for three short low-budget films I am hoping to produce based on some classic SF short stories (more on that in the months to come), making my way through the Hugo Packet to prepare to vote, looking forward to opening JURASSIC WORLD at the Cocteau [his cinema in New Mexico] and to hosting a ten-author special event for the release of Steve Stirling’s new “Emberverse” anthology, THE CHANGE.”
Meanwhile, Martin also bemoaned the number of people who are emailing him at present complaining about various things in the “Game of Thrones” TV show, or taking over posts with comments all about something that he does not have any direct control over. While he may be involved to a certain extent with some aspects of the story, David Benioff and Dan Weiss are the two making the decisions.
