‘The Flash’ season 2 spoilers: A new love interest coming for Barry Allen
While you understandably may want to see Barry Allen and Iris West get a little bit closer to being an item on “The Flash” sooner rather than later, but we come today bearing what may be bad news for you: It does not appear like that is going to be happening right away during the upcoming second season.
According to a new report from TVLine, the CW series is looking to fill the role of “Wendy” (the name could change), an officer for the Central City PD who is being described as similar to Felicity Smoak, per one casting notice. We’re not sure that this is a comparison that the show should be wanting to make right now, and not because of anything tied to Felicity’s own likability. The issue that they could run into here is that if you make these sort of comparisons, some fans may claim that you are just regurgitating the same thing we saw with Barry and Felicity over on “Arrow,” with the major difference being that the story may last a little bit longer.
Regardless of semantics, we anticipate this being another wrinkle to maybe get Iris to realize more than ever that she and Barry need to be together. We know now that she has at least some romantic interest, but at the same time, she’s probably feeling pretty messed-up over the death of Eddie and needs some time to heal.
At the end of the day, though, it feels at this point like it is her turn to make a move. Barry has already tried, and he deserves to be wooed a little bit now.
