‘Outlander’ season 2 spoilers: Meet Master Raymond!

It’s now official: There is now a face to attach to the name of Master Raymond for “Outlander” season 2!

Per an official press release, we know now that actor Dominique Piñon has been cast to play this key book character on the upcoming second season, which is currently in production in France for a 2016 release. While there may not necessarily be a whole not known about this particular individual yet in the context of the show (and we don’t want to spoil anything for the uninitiated), the release describes the character as “a mysterious healer with a great deal of knowledge regarding secret matters, both political and occult. Though generally viewed with suspicion by his contemporaries, Master Raymond forms a special bond with Claire.”

We of course knew that there were going to be many an opportunity in order to see casting scoop for the second season, mostly born out of the fact that there were so many key characters in season 1 left behind in Scotland. Really, Claire (Caitrioa Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) are going to be in a completely different world, and they have to figure out just how they will adapt to being in a new, mysterious place. We expect the tone of the show to be similar, but the characters are also in a world that is slightly more political and a little less overtly brutal.

Piñon has been a well-known French actor for many decades, but this will be an introduction to his work for many Americans checking out the show.
