‘Outlander’ season 2 spoilers: The latest casting news!
While season 1 of “Outlander” only just ended, production has been underway for a little while on season 2 … which in turn is still far away from premiering. Our feeling is that it will most likely launch early next year, given the present time and the work that still needs to be done. The benefit is that more than likely, you’ll get a straight run of the 13 episodes instead of 16 that are split up over two separate batches.
Rather than spend much time speculating on that for now (it’s not exactly the purpose of this article to do so), let’s instead dive into what is some of the latest casting news for the show. As first reported by TVWise, stage actress Audrey Brisson has been brought in as Sister Angelique, a character who should be very familiar to those who have read the book series. We’re always nervous to say too much more than that for two separate reasons:
1. As someone who came into the series without knowing the book world, we feel like there are many out there who still do appreciate the element of surprise.
2. It is also possible that the character on the show could end up being different than the book incarnation, and we don’t want to mislead. The series has been fairly faithful so far, but there still have been alterations.
The one thing that we will say is that with a name like Sister Angelique, it is pretty easy to infer that this is one of the characters Jamie and Claire will run into during their time in France. The two made the decision to depart Scotland at the end of the show’s first season.
If you missed it yesterday, we had a chance to speak at length with Sam Heughan about the show’s Emmy chances and some notable moments from the first season. We highly recommend that you give that a look. Also, you can sign up here to acquire some other TV news and updates via email, courtesy of our official CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: Starz.)
