NBC’s ‘Hannibal’ season 3, episode 2 preview: Hugh Dancy arrives on the scene in ‘Primavera’
The first episode of “Hannibal” season 3 was a visual showcase of their version of Florence, and of the complicated relationship that Hannibal Lecter has with Bedelia du Maurier. The two somehow made it thousands of miles away from Will Graham and the BAU, and yet in some way they could not escape impulse fully.
Just as they cannot escape impulse, they cannot escape Will Graham. This is why he will surface for the first time next week in “Primavera,” which should mark a wonderful opportunity to catch up with Hugh Dancy’s character. You have to imagine that Hannibal’s heart-shaped tableau is going to lure him in, and his new investigation could be particularly difficult given that he has no home-field advantage at all. The synopsis below offers up a few more details, including how difficult a position Will may find himself in:
“With his wounds now healed, Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) heads to Europe eight months after the horrific event that almost took his life, in search of closure with Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen). Following a hunch, Will arrives in Palermo, Italy to find a disturbing gift. Will’s arrival draws suspicion from Inspector Rinaldo Pazzi (guest star Fortunato Cerlino), who twenty years earlier pursued a Florentine killer known as “Il Mostro” and, after reading Will’s file, believes that Hannibal Lecter and “Il Mostro” are one and the same. Pazzi tries to enlist Will’s help in catching Hannibal, but Will warns that he is unsure of where his own allegiance lies.”
While we cannot speak too much to what the future holds through the rest of this European jaunt for the characters, we imagine that it will remain true to the stunning, visceral tone the show provides visually and emotionally.
