‘Outlander’ video: Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan look back at favorite season 1 moments
The wait for “Outlander’s” final season 1 episodes was in some ways long and torturous, but there is one thing that we very much appreciated from Starz during the hiatus: Their commitment to continuing to present little video clips here and there from the cast and crew. They realize that it is a long wait (production on season 2 has only just begun), but they do their best to try and make it seem short.
In the latest video below, you can see Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe each discuss their personal favorite moments from filming the last episodes of the season, and this marks a good chance for you to fondly look back on these episodes, as well.
Specifically, Caitriona takes you back to “The Devil’s Mark,” a thrilling episode that was in part about the witch trials and the supposed death of Geillis Duncan. What is fascinating to learn here is that the trial scene took a solid week to film inside of a church, and she particularly loved the energy that everyone from the cast to the extras brought to the table. Heughan was particularly fan of Bill Paterson, a Scottish actor he looked up for some time before the show.
In terms of his own favorite moment, Sam takes you back to the events of the recent finale, where you saw Jamie and Claire aboard the ship to France. This was an enormous technical achievement for the show, but it also had to be a very breathtaking experience for the cast to be aboard this boat, feeling the wind and the water in their faces knowing that this was going to be one of the ways season 1 came to a close.

I, like most fans cannot wait for Season 2 to begin, even though Claire will eventually be reunited with Frank. There are fans who think Frank is A-Okay. Sorry. I think he is the most boring, uninteresting, unimaginative turkey ever conceived and for the life of me I cannot fathom what Claire ever saw in him, especially as her soul mate from 1743 is such a marked contrast in looks, temperament, personality. She is always ready for a confrontation with Jamie or any of the other members of clan McKenzie, but when Frank almost blatantly suggests that the ghost of the Highlander might be a former patient looking to “reconnect”, she gets all offended and calmly asks if that is what he thinks of her. I would have placed my delicate little high heel up his arrogant English arse.
