‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 17 spoilers: Kelli Giddish teases stories ahead for Rollins, cast

Law & Order: SVU logoWe’re grateful that “Law & Order: SVU” started production on season 17 a little earlier than most other fall shows (they tend to bank some footage before hiatus) for a variety of different reasons; selfishly, one of them is that it does give us an opportunity to talk further about a show that we enjoy at a time when many others are a ghost town news-wise.

For “SVU” right now in particular, we are heading into a period of at least a reasonable amount of uncertainty, mostly due to the fact that Danny Pino is departing, and there really is not a whole lot of news out there yet in terms of how the show plans to move forward following that. Amaro had a complicated relationship with Amaro at times, and she could move forward in a variety of different ways.

As for what Kelli Giddish would like to see, she tells E! News that she’d like to see her taken over a little bit by her work:

“Rollins, I think it’s so cool to really see her get enveloped by a case and maybe a subject. I think maybe you’ll see her become a little obsessed with that … The beginning of next season is so great. We’re in the midst of production of season 17 now, we’re dealing with transgender [stoylines] already, you know. They’re on top of things as always.”

Clearly, the writers do have their finger on the pulse here! We’re not sure that even they could have predicted Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair cover coming out at this time. Granted, these new episodes are still not airing on NBC until late September at the earliest.
