‘The Good Wife’ season 7 spoilers: Producers on Cush Jumbo role
While “The Good Wife” was only officially renewed by CBS right before the network upfront presentation, it was pretty clear that it would be coming back the moment that British actress Cush Jumbo was cast for a significant role on the upcoming seventh season. It just wasn’t clear what the role would be … and to a certain extent, it is still not clear just what executive producers Robert and Michelle King want to do with her.
One thing that we can say at the moment, though, is that it is inevitable that some out there are going to assume automatically that Jumbo is going to be replacing Archie Panjabi’s character of Kalinda on the show. How could you not? Well, have no fear! According to what Robert tells TV Guide, this is not just going to be Kalinda 2.0:
“I wouldn’t say she’s replacing Archie because she’s irreplaceable, but we wanted someone who could fill that same interesting dynamic on the show without doing the same thing.”
Meanwhile, Michelle added that there are still some other things when it comes to Cush that are still being sorted out:
“We’re still figure out exactly [her role], but we’re not suggesting that Cush will be an investigator or take on that role.”
Luckily, there is still some time to figure this out. With a “CSI” TV movie airing the first Sunday of the fall season, it could be October before “The Good Wife” actually comes back on the air with new episodes. We will have some other news as it gets closer to the show airing, so stay tuned!
