‘Game of Thrones’ season 5, episode 8 preview: Sophie Turner, Lena Headey, and ‘Hardhome’ trouble

Cercei -

There have certainly been times on “Game of Thrones” season 5 where we have wondered whether or not the show has had some of the same forward motion that it has in years past. Not only that, but we have also had some concerns about whether or not the show has caught up too much to the books, to the point where most of the good stuff may have already happened.

Are we starting to see a change when it comes to that? It feels that way from the last three episodes, and we already are starting to get the indication that next week’s new installment “Handhome” could be equally important. The reference is going to be familiar right away to those who have read A Song of Ice and Fire, and you can see the synopsis below (short as it may be):

“Arya makes progress in her training. Sansa confronts an old friend. Cersei struggles. Jon travels.”

What we wonder at the moment is strictly this: There is a moment that many book fans know well when it comes to Cersei, and we may be finally getting close to that moment playing out on the show. Her capture at the hands of the High Sparrow changes things. If nothing else, it has to be making her regret very much her choice to give them so much power.

Also, it is going to be nice to actually see more of Arya this season! We enjoy the character, but she has been so much in shadow so far.
