‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 3: Chloe Bennet looks at Skye’s progression
Meet the new Skye … certainly not the same as the old Skye. While there are many characters across the landscape of Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” that have transformed rather dramatically since the early days of the show. She has become so one so much more than who she was during some of the early days, and that is something to be commended. We admit that there were some times we were not entirely sure just what the show was going to bring to the table with this character during the early going … though to be fair, we had this same sentiment about the show as a whole.
So where does the character go now that she has since found powers, realized that she is one of the Inhumans, and then ultimately arrived to the point where she could be one of the Secret Warriors? There is no easy answer to this, but we do at least have a quote from Chloe Bennet on the subject to Entertainment Weekly (mostly because it would be insane to think that she would actually drop any enormous spoilers):
“The Skye that I auditioned as is nothing close to the Skye that she has become … She’s maturing faster than I am. She was a hippie hacker in a van that was anti-S.H.I.E.L.D. and anti-government. Now she works for S.H.I.E.L.D., she’s an Inhuman, she has trained and understands why S.H.I.E.L.D. does what they do.”
Skye’s arc will probably become clear within the first few episodes of the new season, if for no other reason than that there is no clear motivation whatsoever for the show to waste their time building towards these answers now. That is in some ways what the hiatus is for.
