NBC’s ‘The Voice’ finale: Are Sawyer Fredericks, Meghan Linsey winning on iTunes?

Sawyer -Tonight’s finale of “The Voice” is probably going to be a whole lot of fun, but one thing it is looking more and more like it will not be is extremely close when it comes to the vote. Maybe we will be surprised, but early evidence shows that this may be the most predictable season in the series’ history.

As of around 2:30 p.m. Eastern time, Sawyer Fredericks is dominating iTunes, as both “Please” and his cover of “Old Man” are each within the top three. The only thing keeping him from the top spot is Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood,” which she just performed at the Billboard Music Awards. While we know that Blake Shelton and his country army will most likely help Meghan Linsey, he has such a sales advantage over her that we don’t see another Craig Wayne Boyd sort of comeback happening here.

Linsey also is in the top 10 on iTunes with her single “Change My Mind,” while Joshua Davis has a spot of his own with “The Workingman’s Hymn,” which to us is probably our favorite of the winners’ singles. He will probably finish in third place, with Koryn sitting at #4 despite having some of the best vocals the past few weeks.

While we understand that Sawyer haters could complain that he has received prime performance real estate on the show more than any other artist, he really should win the show and probably would be regardless of where they put him. He’s got such a unique style that it feels like Pharrell Williams and some of the record executives after the fact could make him into a reasonably successful artist … or at least so we hope. This show has struggled from the management side of things to really support their alum; while you can say that “American Idol” is restrictive contractually after the show, but they do at least work to promote contestants (or at least they did for the first eleven seasons or so).
