‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 debate: Should Emma Swan be the big bad?
It is already somewhat strange to think that a good six days have come and gone now since the end of “Once Upon a Time” season 5, and we are left here to sit and ponder possible scenarios and stories for the upcoming fifth season.
At the moment, though, one that we are especially curious to see has to revolve around one key question: Are we really about to see Emma Swan as a villain? Is this something that really is possible within the world of this show? In many ways, the idea of it feels so completely far gone from what the original premise of the show was, which was a woman in Emma Swan traveling to Storybrooke in order to save the town. How could she go from a savior to a potential destroyer? The prophecy eventually came into play here, and what was somewhat-delightful (though maybe “delightful” is the wrong word for it) was that this was a prophecy you may have thought was null and void by the time the “Dark One” was defeated.
We feel like turning Jennifer Morrison’s character into more of a clear villain is something that is not going to always be that easy to do, mostly because you don’t want to turn the character so dark that they cannot be completely redeemed anymore. Also, you have to remember the younger audience of this show, and know that you don’t want to scare Henry away forever.
However, at the same time you also have to make the cliffhanger matter! To us, Emma at least needs to be the main villain of the first half of season 5, since otherwise it feels like this cliffhanger is a big tease with no payoff. If you have another villain in mind for the second half of the season, let them wait for a little while.

Emma will be dark one for UNTIL they find the cure of the darkness once and for all – meaning Merlin,
I cant wait to see how Emma and Hook progress in this situation

I believe by Emma becoming the vilian she is still saving them BC that light in her is so much stronger than darkness the one to watch is Maleficent daughter.

Emma needs to be the villian for at least half a season. I would be very dissapointed if the whole Emma thing gets resolved in the first episodes of season 5. I’ve been looking forward to dark Emma for a long time
