David Letterman tells Oprah Winfrey what he will take from ‘Late Show’ office

Late Show -David Letterman is already preparing to sign off as host of “The Late Show.” As a matter of fact, he has seemingly cleaned out his office already! Granted, it seems like he had been working on that for a rather lengthy period of time to begin with.

Letterman had Oprah Winfrey on his show Friday for her final appearance on the show, and what he told her was a surprisingly bizarre story about what he is choosing to take with him from his office in New York: A drain stopper. It just goes to remind you that Dave views sentimentality in a different way than most, and that he also remembers some of the random little things from when he first made the move over to CBS.

One of the real interesting things about the past few years is seeing what was at one point believed to be some sort of “feud” (though both parties have denied that it was) evolve into something that is a little bit different and also fun. These two have respect for each other, and Dave’s sarcasm and deadpan humor at times is a great contrast to Oprah, who tends to be a little more over the top with some of her responses.

More than anything else, we’re just thrilled with the roster that Letterman’s staff has assembled for the final shows of the series. We’ve had Howard Stern, we’ve seen Oprah, and we know that the likes of Tom Hanks, Bill Murray, and many more longtime favorites are coming next week.
