‘Big Brother Canada 3’ interview: Bruno Ielo on shock eviction, twists, unanimous vote

Bruno Ielo -As we mentioned yesterday in sort of wrapping up our take on Bruno Ielo as a “Big Brother Canada” player, we really do think that he had a whole lot going for him. Unfortunately, we think that his downfall in the end was letting his emotions get the best of him when it comes to Sarah, and trying to play the middle a little too hard and not tip his cap one way or another. To be fair, it’s hard to blame the guy too much given that he was the victim of a twist we’ve never been that fond of dating back to “Big Brother 11,” where he was at the mercy of one of his other players in Brittnee.

We only had a limited amount of time to speak with Bruno, but we did get a pretty good sense of how he feels about certain aspects of the game.

CarterMatt – Getting evicted so suddenly, it would have been really easy for you to be frustrated or angry about it. How did you keep your cool?

Bruno Ielo – Well, this is ‘Big Brother,’ and one of those things is that you have to expect the unexpected. I knew at that point that there was nothing that I could do about it, and I was not going to go off stomping my feet. I just had to go with it. I knew I was done the moment that [Brittnee] put me on the block; I knew my game was up.

The best part was when I walked out those doors, it helped that I saw my family. As soon as I saw my wife it made a lot of the pain so much easier, and it reminded me of why I was there. The fact that I got to see her in-person and I got to go up and give her a hug and a kiss … I love her, and it made all of that pain go away instantly. I didn’t regret a single thing.

Should someone in the BB Canada house be thinking about the possibility of a big twist like what happened to you at all times, or are you liable to drive yourself insane doing so?

Here’s the thing. You always have to be on your toes, and you always have to be ready. I admit it: With the big triple-eviction last week, I didn’t expect a big twist this week. I was off my guard for a twist like that, especially this late in the game with seven people. A power like that is huge, and it’s designed to take out a big player. Unfortunately, I was on the receiving end of it this year.

Were you surprised that the vote to evict you was unanimous?

I wasn’t surprised. I didn’t want Godfrey to vote for me to stay. Once he knew the vote was against me, I’m glad he actually voted with the house. At this point in the game, there is no point in giving me a sympathy vote, and showing someone else your cards like that. I’m glad he voted the other way. If it would have been 3-1 or 4-0, it wouldn’t have made any difference. [The move] allowed Godfrey to show Sarah and Brittnee that he was going to be loyal for it. I don’t blame him for it, I’m rooting for the guy, and I hope [he] brings it home.
