‘Survivor: Worlds Apart’: Why Joe Anglim is worthy of your vote
You knew almost from the moment that Joe Anglim was voted out of “Survivor” this season that he would be thrown back into another season; you may just not have thought it would be happening so quickly. When you look at his resume, his inclusion into “Survivor: Second Chance” is almost a formality. He is basically a hybrid of Malcolm and Ozzy, capable of winning almost every challenge. He also happens to be a really nice guy from all accounts. He’s a favorite of casual fans, longtime viewers of the show, and even Jeff Probst based on his Twitter reaction after he was voted out.
Here is the evidence of that from last month, with Jeff even making the rare move of addressing a contestant by their Twitter handle rather than their actual name:
So even though you can go ahead and chalk Joe in the cast, let’s go through the process of discussing him in the same fashion that we have everyone else.
Past experience – “Survivor: Worlds Apart” (10th place)
Why you should vote for him – Because he’s almost what a prototypical “Survivor” contestant looked like, at least through the first 15 seasons before it started to become more of a strategic game. He is athletic, intelligent, fairly loyal, and a guy you can rely on around camp to not let things fall apart. Also, you probably remember him since he is a part of this season and you’re still seeing him on the jury.
Why you wouldn’t vote for him – The only knock against Joe is the same one we have said about other recent players: Maybe it’s best to save a couple of them for a season a couple of years down the road, rather than just clumping them all on here and keeping us from a few deserving players from older seasons who may not get another chance.
Our prediction – Joe’s in 100%. It would take a #SurvivorBlindside for that not to happen. We’re including him on our ballot, too, mostly because he is one of those contestants who should go back-to-back. Joe has to strike while the iron’s hot! In another year, there could be a couple of other guys in his mold that start to overshadow him and take his spot on a list like this.
