‘American Idol’ season 15: Ryan Seacrest reflects on show’s end

American Idol -Is “American Idol” really getting “canceled”? We’ve seen that headline surface around the internet over the past couple of days, and to a certain extent, we admit that it does bother us to a certain extent. We don’t really think of it as cancellation so much when a show is renewed for one more season, and then it is said that this new season will be its last. To us, cancellation is when a show is ending either during or immediately after its current run. This show has had a great run of the past decade and a half, and we do think that it deserves to go out with as much dignity as possible.

Obviously, there are a variety of people who should be grateful for this experience, and this includes Simon Cowell to Kelly Clarkson to Paula Abdul to even host Ryan Seacrest, who was a virtual unknown at the time that the show started. In a statement today, he looked back at his time on the show, and how much he is dreading in a way saying goodbye to someone who has been a part of his life for so long:

“American Idol has been a big part of my life for so long, it’s frankly hard to imagine it without it. It’s been a remarkable journey, and I feel very fortunate to have been part of a show that made television history in countless ways. It’s a show about chasing and fulfilling dreams, and truth be told, it helped some of my own dreams come true, too. All the American Idol producers, judges, crew and everyone at Fox have been heroic in their efforts to create, produce and sustain such a groundbreaking show for so many years. I’m so glad they’re going to give us a season-long send off. The last season will undoubtedly be a special and emotional one, but first I’m looking forward to closing out Season 14. The finale is always my favorite part — two live shows with lots of surprises, and, of course, one winner!”

We’re interested already with getting to see if the tone of the show Wednesday night is any different because of this; certainly, we expect it to be a little shocking to watch.
