‘Survivor: Second Chance’: Why Shirin Oskooi is worthy of your vote
Given how long Shirin Oskooi has longed to be on “Survivor,” the past year or so for her has to be some sort of crazy thrill. While her “Survivor: Worlds Apart” experience was far from perfect, it was a chance for her to go out and play the game that she’s loved for so long. She made it pretty far, and now she’s eligible to take part in next season’s “Survivor: Second Chance.”
While we tend to build some suspense in these articles as to the potential for a given castaway to return, there’s really no point here. If Shirin is not a part of this upcoming season, our mouth will be open wider in shock than Alec Christy’s as member of the jury. (Look it up, people.) You can vote for Shirin and others at the link here.
Past experience – “Survivor: Worlds Apart” (8th place)
Why you should vote for her – Is there a bigger underdog out there? Shirin was on the outs almost the entire game, and wouldn’t it be nice to see her play with people who don’t berate her both to her face and in confessionals? She deserves so much better than the treatment she received in Nicaragua. Even aside from that, she is the sort of diehard “Survivor” fan you would want to see have a second chance. We spend so much time complaining about recruits; why not let a genuine fan get back out there? You know she will appreciate the love.
Why you wouldn’t vote for her – The biggest reason we can think of here is that you already have a couple of “Worlds Apart” contestants on your must-haves list for season 31, and you want there to be some representation across the board. It’s possible that almost half the cast could be from “Worlds Apart” and “Cagayan” alone.
Our prediction – We have Shirin on our ballot, but it ultimately doesn’t matter that much if you do or not. She’s basically a lock at this point to return. She’s an extremely likable person from this current season, and we would put her up there with Ciera, Tasha, and to an extent Kelly Wiglesworth as near certainties.
