‘American Idol’ season 15 spoilers: Judges, Ryan Seacrest returning for final season
Today, Fox made the rumors official at their upfront presentation, confirming that after almost a decade and a half of making dreams come true, they are basically canceling “American Idol” after the upcoming 15th season. This is a show that joins “Survivor” in our mind as the two reality shows that really changed the face of TV as we know it; luckily, the latter is still going strong and shows no sign of stopping anytime soon.
So when “American Idol” does end next year, you can at least rest assured that the majority of the personalities that you’ve come to know and care for will be present once again. The entire judging panel (including Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez, and Keith Urban) will return for the grand finale, as will host Ryan Seacrest. You can expect there to be a variety of different retrospectives to also come on the air to feature some of the best contestants over the years.
We’ll obviously have a whole lot of time to discuss this moving forward, but to us some of the most notable contestants over the show’s history include the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, David Archuleta, Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Scotty McCreery, Haley Reinhart, Phillip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez, Candice Glover, and plenty of other names that we didn’t even get around to mentioning here. They’ve had as a whole more success launching stars than any other show has, even though it’s been a few years since they’ve been that successful at it.
Does this mean the end of other singing shows, as well? Maybe, but we feel like “The Voice” still has a little life left in it.
