‘Forever’ season 2 a no-go, show canceled alongside ‘Resurrection,’ ‘Cristela’
ABC clearly wanted to wait until most media outlets were away before announcing some of the official fates on some of their shows … or at least the ones that were getting canceled.
Of the shows officially axed today, “Forever” is really the only one that comes as a slight surprise, though even that was not too big of a shock, either. Its ratings have been subpar at best almost the entire season, though it did at least have a legion of fans in its corner. That is something more than what can be said for a few other shows out there. “Resurrection” also was canceled, but nobody is that surprised by that. Despite being a smash hit in season 1, its biggest crime was just not being good enough to justify the ratings. If you have a hook and a great story, people more often than not will stay.
Finally, the sad news is here for “Cristela,” which was more or less canceled weeks ago but was never made official until now. That one is sad just because it was such an underdog show in the first place, and ABC has yet to realize that almost any show that they shelve after “Last Man Standing” on Friday night is doomed to be quickly sent away. It doesn’t matter if you have a solid idea.
While we told you this weeks ago, the network also confirmed tonight that “Once Upon a Time” has been renewed for a fifth season. There was not any reason at all to worry about its fate, given its popularity both stateside and also around the world.

Any chance another channel will pick up Forever? The cast (Iona Gruffudd’s Henry and Abe, Jo, Hanson, Lucas, Lt Reese) were just so GOOD together. Tweak he formula a bit, but get it back on the air. Netflix? A Canadian channel?
