‘American Idol’ XIV results: Was Tyanna Jones, Rayvon Owen eliminated before top 4?

Well, we have to say that Rayvon Owen continues to be the surprise of this “American Idol” season. While it does appear like he is constantly in danger of going home, he somehow still finds a way to perpetually survive time and time again.

During the first hour of tonight’s show, that happened again when it was revealed that Tyanna Jones was sent home, and did not make it to the top 5 stage. That is somewhat of a shame, but we have to say that we are not shocked too much. We thought it would ultimately be between either her or Rayvon, but we were shocked that this was announced in the middle of the show rather than at some point down the road.

The good news for Tyanna is that this elimination does not take away in the slightest from the fact that she will be getting a chance to rehearse and perform on the summer tour, which is something that the other eliminated singers will not get a chance to do. Obviously, this is something that everyone wants to be a part of, but only a select few can.

As for what Rayvon’s true ceiling is in the competition, we’re not that optimistic about him winning. However, he could find a way to creep into the top 3 depending on if Nick Fradiani’s fan base starts to fade a little. His elimination would to us be the only one that could allow this to happen. To us, Clark Beckham and Jax feel like they have to be a pretty stable final two at the moment.
