‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Scarlett Johansson, Kenan Thompson go for laughs

Are you ready for “Saturday Night Live” to bring the hilarity again? Well, let’s just hope that the show meets that expectation in some way. This weekend’s show is being hosted by Scarlett Johansson, who we have a reasonable amount of optimism in. She’s an accomplished host on the show, and has no problem seemingly making fun of herself. She’s also the second star of “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” to appear on the show, as we already saw Chris Hemsworth earlier in the season.

Based on the promo below, our expectations for this episode are in a word mixed. Why? It is simply a matter of writing here, since the majority of the gags featuring Scarlett and cast member Kenan Thompson are somewhat corny. The early few bits were not really that funny at all, mostly because Kenan scatting is somewhat odd, and we didn’t really get one of the voices he was trying to do at all. Things are slightly more successful when the two talk about being new parents, and they each have a drink to prove that they can still be fun.

The biggest reason that we have hope for this episode to deliver, meanwhile, is timing. The show has had a few weeks in order to prepare for this, and we’re going to assume that most of the good stuff is not included in this promo. You have to save something good for the show itself, right?
