‘The Good Wife’ season 6, episode 20 preview: Alicia, Kalinda face harsh truths

Sunday night’s new episode of “The Good Wife” is entitled “The Deconstruction,” and our overall impression of it at the moment is rather simple: It looks awesome. How much so? Let’s just say that the sneak peek videos below should serve as a worthy guide.

1. Alicia is forced to resign – Yes, this moment is actually happening. After spending a full season wondering whether or not she would be elected as State’s Attorney, she is forced to give it up in a teary speech, even as she knows at the same time that she has not necessarily done anything wrong at all. The voting machines did not even hurt her! This is all the end result yet again of the sort of nasty politics that tends to pervade these sort of elections. In order to keep the recount from happening, she is being thrown to the wolves as a sacrificial lamb. Powerful and very sad stuff.

2. Kalinda’s pain – “The Good Wife” clearly wins for posting two extremely excellent sneak peeks for the same exact episode. This one is extremely striking, especially since you watch Kalinda and it feels almost like she is seeing a ghost in looking at pictures of Alicia. We will never quite know why the series has forced Julianna Margulies and Archie Panjabi away from each other so much. These two characters had one of the best TV friendships out there once upon a time, and while Kalinda did do something unspeakable with Peter, it is still hard to fathom the complete lack of screen time they have shared over the past few years.
