‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6, episode 20 preview: Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, and what comes next

Delena -Where are we going on “The Vampire Diaries” next week? We know where this story is going in between the Alaric – Jo wedding and Nina Dobrev’s ultimate departure from the show. What we don’t know just yet is how everything is going to tie together. We know that the vampire cure is going to be an important part of the story, and Elena will turn to anyone and everyone in hopes to get some answers. Unfortunately for her, though, the ball is ultimately going to be in her court.

“I’d Leave My Happy Home for You” is the title for this episode, and if you have not seen the official synopsis for this hour to date, you can check that out below:

“As Alaric (Matt Davis) and Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O’Keefe) reluctantly participate in their bachelor and bachelorette parties, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) discuss the ramifications from an impulsive offer that Damon makes. Unsure of what to do, Elena turns to Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Jo for advice, but is left conflicted when Bonnie raises some unanticipated concerns. When Enzo (Michael Malarkey) realizes Lily (guest star Annie Wersching) is on a dangerous downward spiral, he asks Stefan (Paul Wesley) to help intervene before it’s too late. Lastly, fed up with the supernatural threats that plague their town, Matt (Zach Roerig) takes his frustrations out on Tyler (Michael Trevino), while Alaric considers a life-changing piece of advice.”

It’s amazing just how the word “advice” is thrown around in here, but the truth here is that these characters are going to be clinging to something, anything, to hopefully understand more of what they want in life. This is what makes this story and this season so interesting. It’s not really about who we are watching Elena or Damon fight anymore so much as it is watching them fight their own internal battles.
