‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 8 spoilers: What comes next for Raj, Emily?

We’ve wondered for a while now what is going to happen for Raj and Emily on “The Big Bang Theory,” mostly because their romance so far feels like a three-episode romance arc extended over the course of a full season. While they are together, we have not seen anything yet to suggest that they will be endgame for each other. For example, would this happy-go-lucky show really want to end things with Penny and Emily who don’t like each other? It may make for real life situations, but this is a comedy and we don’t need yo see that much long term strife.

By the end of the season, it looks like Raj may be forced into making some hard choices … and that includes whether or not he really wants to keep this woman in his life. Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Steven Molaro had the following to say:

“Raj is realizing that Emily may not be the right person for him … And he knows this in his heart. But he’s also never broken up with anybody in his life…”

To us, we feel like this is a potential smoking gun that these two have an expiration date at some point; just as the show wouldn’t end with Emily and Penny spending time together, would they really want to pair off Raj forever with someone who he does not think is right for him? The question here is when and how he would end things, and what it would take for him to build the confidence to do it? Granted, it’s also possible that Emily could break up with him, but he would probably have to push her into it.
