‘American Idol XIV’: Quentin Alexander talks after Harry Connick Jr. argument

Quentin -While we would not necessarily say that “American Idol XIV” delivered an iconic performance on Wednesday night, it certainly brought us one of the most awkward moments of the entire season. Quentin Alexander at one point got into it with judge Harry Connick Jr. after the judge insinuated that Quentin should leave if he really thought that Joey Cook and Rayvon Owen being in the bottom two was “wack.” It felt to us like Quentin was just trying to spread some love to a pair of singers who were his good friends, and wasn’t trying to call out the process or say that he wanted to leave. In the end, it was just bizarre to watch.

After the show, though, Quentin clearly showed that he personally has no regrets over what happened, writing on his Twitter account that having strong emotions is “the beauty of being human.” So far, Harry has yet to comment on the incident online, but we feel it would behoove him to do so. We were probably a little more emotional ourselves when we ripped him for it last night, but we think at the end of the day what happens was that Harry, feeling the need to be the entertainer that he is, tried to create a big TV moment after misreading what Quentin was saying.

Anyhow, the one thing we really hope does not happen is that this somehow impacts the voting for the week. If Quentin goes home, let it be for his vocals, and not for some argument or display of personality that took place away from that.
