‘A.D. The Bible Continues’ episode 3 preview: ‘The Spirit Arrives’

AD -What will the buzz be tomorrow night for “A.D. The Bible Continues“? We are admittedly somewhat curious to figure this out, mostly because we still find the decision somewhat dubious to premiere the NBC miniseries on Easter Sunday, and then have it continue on past one of the most religious holidays of the year. Also, you are putting an epic series up against “Game of Thrones” and its huge premiere, which feels almost like a death wish. We do not fully understand why the network did not just opt to air a new episode at 8:00 p.m. instead rather than repeating last week’s installment leading into this one.

Regardless of whatever our scheduling critique may be at present, there is admittedly a story left to tell here. “The Spirit Arrives” is the title for this next installment, and if you look below, you can see just how the beginnings of Christianity take place:

“Zealot revolutionaries try to assassinate Pilate during the festival of Pentecost. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, the disciples start to preach the Gospel. Caiaphas arrests Peter and John.”

As we said last week, the creative challenges for this project are very easy to pin down: The most notable event of the entire series takes place during the first two episodes, and now that you have told your story of the Crucifixion and Resurrection, how do you keep the interest level high? Since you are relying mostly on well-known source material, you are also not going to have that demographic of people who are somehow surprised by some of what they see.

What do you want to see on the next new episode of “A.D.,” and are you still invested? Let us know with a comment, and head over here to get some further updates on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: NBC.)
