‘American Idol’ spoilers: Theme for Rayvon Owen, Jax, Joey Cook, top 7

Top 7 -The seven remaining contestants on “American Idol” are all going to be performing yet again on Wednesday night, and in terms of the show’s structure, we at least expect something fairly similar to what we’ve had the past two weeks. We really cannot imagine the show ditching the whole save concept now, especially since it is driving so much social traffic to them. Also, it helps that all of the remaining singers hail from either the Eastern or Central time zones. There’s no one left who would lose their hometown audience in a save vote.

What we can tell you right now is that the remaining contestants (Rayvon Owen, Quentin Alexander, Nick Fradiani, Clark Beckham, Tyanna Jones, Jax, and Joey Cook) are going to be performing “American Classics.” Yes, that is not even close to being the most creative theme in the world. We’re probably going to be hearing a whole lot of songs we’ve heard on the show before, even with fans voting on it via Twitter. Given that thousands of fans have submitted ideas, there’s bound to be a few who just want to hear some of the same familiar songs done the same way.

Now that we’ve said that, there can be some real soul and creativity behind a classic song, and we rather hope that it blows Billboard Hot 100 week out of the water. There were some decent performances in there, but we were somewhat disappointed in how there weren’t as many creative song choices as what we were expecting. Even “Make It Rain,” while somewhat original, was already done on “The Voice.”

We’re going to wait until a little later in the week to figure out our full rankings, but for now it feels like Clark is starting to distance himself even more from the crowd. You will be able to read them at our “American Idol” landing page over here.
