‘Outlander’ spoilers: Another new promo; plus, fun via Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan

We’re plotting many things over the coming days in terms of “Outlander.” Maybe some of this stems from the recent exclusive interview we conducted with star Sam Heughan, or maybe it comes out of pure excitement over recently binge watching the first eight episodes again. Basically, you should expect a lot of coverage prior to the midseason premiere on Saturday.

Today, we present commentary on the two latest promos released by Starz of the series, starting with the first one, which is largely a summary of everything we have seen so far. Basically, Claire loves Frank Randall, but she also loves Jamie. She seems reasonably confused as to what she really wants out of her life and who she wants to dedicate her heart to. She’s having a character crisis in probably the worst time imaginable, given that she and her new husband are constantly on the lam from Black Jack Randall, the evil man who unfortunately just so happens to look exactly like Frank. This is the show’s way in a sense of associating him with something dark to give Claire pause, though he seems to be by and large a fairly nice man. This is a strong promo when it comes to promoting the show to outsiders, and we still imagine that there are tens of thousands of people out there who will check this out just because their friends won’t stop talking about it.

Meanwhile, let’s turn now to something a little different … but ridiculously fun in its own right. Someone got Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan to read aloud some ridiculous tweets from “Outlander” fans, which are largely about different parts of their anatomy and also Claire’s drinking habits. Fun stuff, and further proof that great off-screen chemistry allows for something so much better onscreen.
