‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 finale: Weighing odds of Rick, Daryl, Michonne, any other character dying

Walking DeadTomorrow night, “The Walking Dead” comes to a close, but not before we go through and arbitrarily choose some of the people who are going to live and die! There are few things more entertaining than playing the Grim Reaper for this show, and the funny thing about it is that as sadistically entertaining we find character-death speculation, we will most likely be bawling our eyes out when it actually happens.

We know that we did not get to every single character in the list below, but let’s say this: Unless we’ve seen you for more than a season, odds are that you are very likely to die in the finale or at any other time for that matter. The challenge for the show is figuring out when to have the main characters in serious trouble and that’s one thing that we have to give credit to “The Walking Dead” for… they aren’t afraid to kill main characters. They’ve already done it with Beth and Tyreese this season, and as the old saying goes “terrible things comes in threes”. (Wait, do we consider Bob’s death to be one of those terrible things?)

Safe for sure

Daryl – Heart and soul of the show. If “The Walking Dead” continues on for 100 more seasons and Norman Reedus wants to stay, he stays. Otherwise be prepared for a screaming fan revolt.

Michonne – We just can’t see how they can sell her death to the audience. It makes no sense with this present narrative and would come out of no where.

Maggie – If you go through all of this tragedy with Beth and Hershel only to kill Maggie now, what was the point of it all? These tragedies are what makes her the layered mess that she is.

Carol – Only for this season we feel she is safe since they already almost-killed her once at the hospital. Carol needs a break to focus on baking some more cookies and scaring the living daylights out of more children.

Likely okay

Rick – We’ll probably be called insane for this, but we can envision an endgame where Rick is dead sooner rather than later as a move to prove that in this world, nobody is ever truly safe. It would be risky, but this show isn’t afraid to make those moves.

Carl – Just in case producers really want to make Rick start to lose his marbles.

Glenn – He’s been on a journey of sorts to figure out whether there is room for humanity in this world. Killing him now would be a quick ending to that.

Abraham – There is so much more untapped potential here! Don’t kill off the show’s best mustache.

In danger

Sasha – She’s already been showing the signs of someone who could die given her recent behavior. These sort of reckless moves can come back to haunt you.

Father Gabriel – We can only hope.

Tara – Since she has not really been given anything to do in a while, an easy target.

Rosita – Somehow, she has been give less to do than Tara, beyond occasionally sleeping with Abraham.

Eugene – Given the guy absolutely stinks at the majority of the things needed for a zombie apocalypse, isn’t he an easy target? Without Abraham he would be dead already.

Dead for Sure

Walkers – Lots of them and in horrible, glorious, disgusting ways!
