‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 spoilers: Colin O’Donoghue on Hook’s past, Emma’s reaction

Once Upon a Time -

While Sunday night’s new episode of “Once Upon a Time” (entitled “Poor Unfortunate Soul”) is going to be an enormous one for Urusla, it in turn will have an emotional impact on Captain Hook at the same time. We’ve already learned that he shares some sort of dark past with her, and it does not exactly end well for him. He’s just chosen to be rather coy about it to this point, and that includes not really wanting to talk to Emma about it.

Is this decision going to come back and hurt her? Should she be angling more to figure out the truth? This is something that series star Colin O’Donoghue himself discusses to TVLine, and states that she does still have some faith in him to try to do the right thing:

“I think that Emma knows and understands who this Hook is, in present day. She knows that he deeply cares for her and wants to do whatever it takes to make this relationship work. Much in the the same way that Belle sees the best in Rumple, Emma tries to see the best in Hook — the only difference is that Hook is genuinely trying to do the right thing, to be the better person, whereas Gold just can’t do that. Gold just always, always has the Dark One inside him.”

While this may be true, we do still imagine that it will be very hard for Hook to be able to keep his relationship completely drama-free in the future. He’s just not the sort of person to be a good guy all of the time. In addition to that, there are new potential problems brought on here by the fact that Emma seems to have some darkness of her own that she needs to tackle.
