‘Call the Midwife’ season 5: Schedule possibilities for Helen George series

Call the Midwife -For fans of “Call the Midwife,” we understand if today feels just the tiniest bit awkward. After all, this is the first time since the beginning of the year where there was no new episode airing on the BBC! The irony here is that season 4 is about to premiere on PBS in just two weeks, and that allows for an opportunity for America to catch up. (For us, this means that there are only a few weeks in the first five or so months of the year where we are not going to be talking about the show in some capacity.

So when can viewers in the United Kingdom anticipate the show coming back on the air? You most-likely know very well already about the Christmas Special. This happens every year, and the ratings are far too good on the night for the network to really consider putting an extra episode somewhere else. It’s tradition! Britain is really quite good at having these sort of TV-watching events.

As for when season 5 proper will start, the one date that we would at least point you towards at the moment is Sunday, January 17. This is a day earlier than when season 4 premiered, but this seems to be a great window for the show to star. We would not be shocked if they end up launching it even a week earlier, but that depends on whether they have some other early-year programming that they want to dish out there for everyone to see. Remember that the BBC likes to wait until the very last minute before sharing the premiere date.

The one thing that we do know with at least a little bit of confidence at this very moment is that season 5 should be a really exciting year for Nonnatus House. As for everything else, we’ll just have to wait.

Of course, we will have some further updates when it comes to “Call the Midwife” soon enough. Also, if you want to score some more news on everything we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter, head over to this link. (Photo: BBC.)
