‘The Talk’: David Duchovny opens up about ‘X-Files’ revival talks

The TalkIs it really possible that “The X-Files” could be coming back at some point in the near future? This was something that looked like it was not remotely possible a few months ago, but times have changed! A Nerdist podcast featuring Gillian Anderson helped to spark an #XFiles2015 movement on Twitter, and since that time, more and more people have taken note of it.

One of those people is none other than Anderson’s former co-star David Duchovny. The actor, who is set to star soon in the new limited series “Aquarius,” made an appearance on “The Talk” recently, and while he could not give away for certain whether or not the show was coming back, he definitely sounds a little more optimistic about it now than he was a few weeks ago.

We know that this is something that all parties involved would at this point be interested in. Fox is in a bit of a ratings rut other than “Empire” and “Gotham,” and the demand for more is clearly there. If we were to have it our way, we’d give the show the “24: Live Another Day” treatment: Present another twelve episodes or so to air during the summer of 2016, and then open the door for more in the future if the demand remains.

After all, all parties involved may be rather busy, and may not be able to do more than a season every couple of years. Anderson, for example, is a regular over on NBC’s “Hannibal,” and then also has her part on the BBC Two / Netflix series “The Fall.”
