‘Shark Tank’ preview: PhoneSoap, GreenBox, Victoria’s Kitchen, Tycoon Real Estate, GrooveBook’s big deal
Tomorrow night, “Shark Tank” returns to ABC with all-new episodes! Who’s rejoicing with us! We feel like this is going to be a fun episode, mostly because we know that we are guaranteed at least one success story. We’re going to be getting an updates in this episode on GrooveBook, which has become one of the most successful products in the show’s history by selling to Shutterfly. We know that they sold for more than $14 million, and while we don’t know all of the other specifics in there, we’re sure that the show Friday will fill us in.
As for everything else featured Friday, take a look at both the synopsis and the individual products below:
“Transplanted Parisians based in Los Angeles, CA have an almond water beverage line from their grandma’s recipe which they hope will tantalize the Sharks. A duo from New York City pitches their eco-friendly pizza box that is 100% recyclable and can be repurposed to become serving plates and leftover storage. An entrepreneur from San Francisco has a business he calls a “game changer in real estate investing,” and cousins from Orem, UT try to sell the Sharks on their solution to sanitizing germ-ridden cell phones. Also, an update on the Chatsworth, California couple, Brian and Julie Whiteman, and their photo saving product, Groovebook, in which Kevin O’Leary invested in during Season 5. Since appearing on the show, they’ve gone on to make the biggest deal in show history and have come into a life-changing windfall.”
PhoneSoap – A way to clean your phone safely using a form of light that eliminates germs but does not damage your product. This product makes a whole lot of sense, given how much you touch your phone every day, but fail to think about the germs that could be on it. You can also charge your phone while it cleans! We suppose the problem here is convincing consumers that they need this, especially at a price point close to $60. Also, you will want to make sure that your phone is compatible first.
GreenBox – This is a fascinating addition to the tank to us, mostly because we feel like this is a product that is a complete licensing deal. We cannot imagine many consumers going through the trouble of getting environmentally-friendly pizza boxes that can be used in many different ways (such as plates or storage for leftovers) for themselves or for their local pizza joint. Instead, you want to partner with a shark and then license it to popular pizza brands. Not only can they work to reduce waste, but it is a smart PR move, as well.
Tycoon Real Estate – We’ll keep this short, since we’re not business-minded or knowledgeable about this market. This just seems like far too niche of a product for “Shark Tank,” but if anyone will know the potential of a crowdfunding real-estate website, it is the sharks.
Victoria’s Kitchen – Who’s thirsty? We’ve never had almond water, but we hear good things. This may be pretty tasty, but we fear they will have a hard time getting a deal done. The specialty drink market is insane, and we’re not sure almond water is the sort of thing that viewers will go online and buy after the show.
