‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: J.K. Simmons, Kenan Thompson brave the cold
This weekend, “Saturday Night Live” is going to be back on the air with J.K. Simmons as the host, and based on the first video promo for it below, it looks like we could be in for a very good time!
Also, it looks like everyone is managing to survive the cold in New York City just fine … even though there was hardly much of a reason for them to be freaking out in the first place. After all, that big winter storm that the city was expected turned out to be greatly hyped for nothing, and Simmons alongside Kenan Thompson have a lot of fun skewering the topic. These two have really good chemistry, so here is to hoping that they actually do a little bit of work together on the show itself.
One other thing that we are hopeful for is that some out there will watch this promo, and then decide ultimately to give this show a chance. We know that Simmons is probably one of the lesser-known hosts this year, but he is a really great character actor who had a huge turn in “Whiplash,” which scored him a Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination. Hopefully, he will carry all of this love into an episode of the show that we will also adore.
Ultimately, we feel like this hire probably came out of the affection that people on the show must have for him, and that gives us some serious hope that they are going to write for him some really great, interesting material.
