‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11 spoilers: Shonda Rhimes not giving up on Callie and Arizona
We know that many fans of “Grey’s Anatomy” out there want to see Callie and Arizona get back together, and we know that we’re right there with you. However, the problem is that they’ve already went through the wringer and then some, and there is no clear indication that they are going to be making any progress anytime soon.
As a matter of fact, what we do know at the moment is that the two are for sure getting into the dating pool again. Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Shonda Rhimes did her part to tease what is going to be a part of their story moving forward. Not only that, but she made her own personal feelings about the couple rather clear at the same time:
“I really was resistant to the idea of sticking them together with somebody else … We’re just reaching the point in our storytelling—episode 13 or 14 in the scripts—and they’re actually starting to date other people and figure out what that is. But that part is just beginning. I am still a staunch believer that they can figure it out. I’m not saying they’re going to, but I am one of their fans as a couple because I love their story together. I love who they are together. I want them to work out their crap and get it together.”
Ultimately, we’d say to watch out for the end of the season if you love these two characters. If they do get back together, we feel like it is something that will take a little bit of time and growth for each one of them.

I have been watching old episodes of Grey’s Anatomy and as much as I love Callie and Arizona together when they are both happy, I think that ultimately they aren’t good together. It is kind of like Preson Burke and Christinia Yang. When he left her on their wedding day he told her he couldn’t marry her because he realized that he was trying to change her into what he wanted her to be and that was not who she was. As I watch these old episodes I noticed that since they have been together all they have tried to do was change each other and the only reason they kept getting back together was because of some major incident that drew them back together (after treating a patient, Callie thinking she would rather have Arizona than a baby, the shooting, Arizona missing Callie when she left to go to Africa and coming back to Callie pregnant, Callie’s dad telling her he cheated on her mom so she should forgive Arizona). I also noticed that every time they broke up it was because of Arizona. I think the writers got it right having them divorce. They are both good people but they make each other miserable and Callie really deserves someone who will treat her as well as she treats them for once!
