‘Mistresses’ season 3 spoilers: There will be no major time jump in premiere
We have to give the producers of “Mistresses” a little bit of credit here. After all, they are definitely not going the expected route when it comes to handling the exit of Alyssa Milano’s Savi (pictured with the ladies) from the show. The easy assumption here was that there would be some sort of enormous time jump between when we saw Harry and Joss hook up and the premiere, since they would be able to better explain what happened there to cause Savi to go away.
However, it appears that the show has figured out a different way. Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, series star Jes Macallen (Joss) explains that the writers came up with a way to pick up the premiere right where we left off in the finale, and without really needing to use Savi at the same time:
“We really thought there was going to have to be a time jump, but they figured that out. Why skip away from [the drama of the Season 2 finale] and be like, ‘Here are our characters six months later’? It’d feel like a disservice. Everyone had big news coming in. Karen’s on the phone with the doctor, April’s got her daughter watching the TV [learning that] her dad was alive and now dead. Let’s go back to those moments. And that’s what were going to do. I’m excited.”
In case you missed why Milano is not returning, it is because she has no desire to relocate her young family to Vancouver. In a cost-cutting move, the show moved there for the third season after spending the first two seasons in California. Many other series, including “Once Upon a Time,” “Arrow,” and “The Flash,” all film in the area. If Milano does not return even for one episode, it will be interesting to see how they manage to work around this. Maybe Savi hops a flight immediately in shock over seeing the Joss hookup, or maybe she suffers some dramatic primetime-soap-opera death.
The third season of “Mistresses” premieres this summer, and we will have further news as it comes out. For now, share what you think about the idea of the show without Savi below, and head over here to score some other TV news on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ABC.)
